 MORNING:

1.       Wash your hands with soap and dry them with a clean towel.

2.       Take out your right contact lens from the lens case.  Lay the lens in the palm of your hand clean with fresh    solution.

3.       Insert clean lens into eye.

4.       Repeat with left lens.

5.       Throw the old solution out of the lens case, wash the case and caps thoroughly with saline or multipurpose   solution and allow to air dry.

6.     Remember to close the solution bottle by putting the screw cap on.

EVENING:

1.       Wash your hands with soap and dry them with a clean towel.

2.       Pour fresh solution into your clean lens case just below the rim.

3.       Take out the contact lens from your right eye.  Lay the lens in the palm of your hand and apply a few drops of solution to the lens.  Rub the lens gently for 10 seconds on both sides of the contact lens.

4.       Wash the lens free from dirt with clean solution.

5.       Put the lens in the correct place of the lens case.  Close the cap on the lens case properly.

6.       Do the same with your left lens.

7.       The lens must be immersed all the way in the solution.

8.       To clean your lenses, you should leave your lenses in the contact lens case for at least 4 hours or leave them in the contact lens case overnight.

ADDITIONAL TIPS:

·         You should never re-use solution and always make use of fresh solution.

·         Never use tap water to rinse your contact lenses or lens case.  Tap water can contain many impurities that can contaminate your lenses and lead to eye infection.

·         Your lens case should be replaced regularly (every 30 days).

·         Never put lenses in your mouth.

·         Never wear lenses longer than the period recommended by your optometrist.

·         Remove your lens(es) immediately if you experience any of the following:

Ø  Itching, burning

Ø  Eyes become red or irritated

Ø  Excessive watering or unusual discharge

Ø  Blurred vision

(Always have a pair of ‘back-up’ spectacles should you need to remove your lenses due to discomfort).

For healthy contact lens care, you must always follow the instructions given to you by your optometrist and regular check- ups are important.
